After hearing confirmation that Marvel Animation and Disney XD are developing a new Spider-Man animated series for the autumn of 2011, it is now clear beyond any doubt whatsoever that The Spectacular Spider-Man, as an animated series, is dead. As fans, we need to accept this. If any of you wish for more of Spectacular Spider-Man, continuation in the form of a monthly comic is the only thing that we can hope for.

Please don't entertain yourselves with the delusion that a third season will run concurrently with the new series, or that the new series itself is a continuation. After retrieving the television rights to Spider-Man from Sony, Marvel has chosen to disregard The Spectacular Spider-Man entirely. Although the series was hailed by fans and critics as one of the best interpretations of the character in any medium, garnered excellent ratings, and sold an exceptional amount of merchandise, they have instead decided to start from scratch.

For those who still want to see more of Greg Weisman's exceptional interpretation of the story, please don't waste your time being actively spiteful towards Marvel and Disney. Instead, put your efforts behind something constructive, and write to Marvel asking for them to consider publishing a TSSM continuation in comic form. It won't take that much demand in order to generate interest:
